Spot vs Stain – What’s the difference?
In the debate of spots versus stains, our spot & odor specialists have a few words of advice! Spots, although hard to remove, are typically removable by our professional team! Stains on the other hand are well….. permanent!
Now that we know this difference between the two, how can you avoid making a “spot” or “spill” into a “stain?” Actually, there’s a lot you can do!
- Once a spot is created, don’t panic!
- Use good technique. Too much product or scrubbing can push that spot right into your fibers permanently, actually causing a stain. Here’s a better technique… Blot, don’t rub. Start by gently picking up any solid pieces from off the carpet. Then lay a white or light-colored cloth over the affected area and apply pressure. Do this repeatedly until the carpet is dry and mostly mess-free.
- Try natural cleaning remedies first. For most spots and spills, natural methods are fairly safe. Some commonly used household cleaning products are actually known to set stains. If you own a bottle of our free spot out, we recommend it as your best approach on everything!
