Acrylic Paint Spot Removal with Water & Vinegar
The probability of removing a paint stain from your carpet depends on how long the paint has been sitting. If it is still wet, doing away with it is quite easy. The drier it becomes, the more stubborn and tighter it gets, making it tougher to take care of it. Follow the steps below to remove acrylic paint from your home’s carpet or rug.
- Prep the spot with a warm soapy mixture
For every one cup of warm water, add one teaspoon of liquid detergent. The smaller the affected area, the less solution needed.
- Apply the soap mixture to the spot
Dip a clean white cloth into the solution and dab on the paint spot. Use a toothbrush (or another small brush) to gently rub on the area in strokes, moving in one direction. Continue blotting the area to pick up the paint stain and use a dry, white cloth or paper towel to soak up the remaining water.
- Blot spot with a white vinegar mixture
Create a 1:10 mixture of vinegar and water. Dip the clean (white), dry cloth or paper towel into the mixture and dab the stain. Use a different dry, white cloth or paper towel to soak up the vinegar/water mixture.
- Rinse with cold water
Dab the spot with cold water as a final step of cleaning.
