Puppy training to caregiving, things happen!

First things first – Unlike many other spots & spills, urine isn’t often a DIY fix! Urine removal requires six separate steps in order to successfully remove all of the urine and odor that comes with it. It involves odor control chemicals as well as rinsing and removing liquids. ALL these steps must be done, and in the right order, to ensure that you have broken down and removed all of the different sources of the odor involved in urine. That’s why it’s important to have the professional carpet cleaners handle these messes! How do they do it?? Urine is such a distinct & difficult smell to remove! Here’s a breakdown of the first steps typically taken by your carpet cleaning professionals:

  1. Totally saturate the area with a urine preconditioner to break down the uric salts. Then let it dwell at least 10 minutes to completely dissolve the salts.
  2. Next, vacuum the liquid out with professional tools, like a water claw or special vacuum suction hoses. Flush excess salt residues away.
  3. Totally saturate the area with an Odor Eliminator. Allow approximately 45 minutes of dwell time, giving the enzymes time to fully digest the proteins and the lipids (fats and oils) involved in the urine deposit.
  4. Again, vacuum the liquid out and flush out the enzymes.
  5. Totally saturate the area with a freshener and allow 5 minutes of dwell time.
  6. Once again, remove as much liquid as possible for an easy dry.

Each situation reacts differently to certain chemicals and results may vary. These are just the first few steps the odor specialists can take to remove urine.
